Simple Pleasures

I love china. Particularly blue and white plates. If I could, I would cover my dining room wall with all manner of patterns and sizes of lovely new or vintage pieces. They brighten any room and add a lovely decorative touch with their shapes and designs. Like a warm Summer sky, they make me feel peaceful and a little dreamy...
I also love teacups and mis-matched saucers. It matters not a whit to me, that they are "odd couples." That just adds to their sweet charm. In fact, I think the very differences in their pattern or colour produce a more interesting and pleasing combination, than if they were exactly the same. Marriages made in ..china!

I love my odd and pretty blue and white pieces.. a simple pleasure to be seen and enjoyed at my table every day.
blessings..Trish

  1. Trish, I just think your decorating taste is SO lovely! I love mismatched teacups and saucers too! I don't have a good way to display them, or else I'd start collecting! :-) Thanks for sharing some beauty with us!

  3. I'm with you. Blue and white is a wonderful combination, and it really does make you feel peaceful. As for teacups matching saucers, how much more interesting it is if they don't. :)

Thanks so much for joining us today.

  4. Not only is blue and white one of my very favorite patterns, but I am also a tea cup and saucer lover. I don't have a huge collection of them, but whenever I see them I just have to stop and admire.
Love that you mix and match.

  5. Very beautiful Trish, I have the same passion for china, and have many mis matched pieces and love the charm of it. The way you have displayed yours is so pretty.
What is it with us girls and our china? Could it be all of those make believe tea parties we had as girls. When I go shopping I always begin or end up in the china dept.lol.
Thanks for sharing and thank you for visiting and for taking the time to leave such a sweet comment.
    Blessings,

  8. Kind of like real marriages -- sometimes seemingly "mis-matched" but pleasing nonetheless!

  12. Trish,

I like blue china as well, although I don't currently own any.

I like what you had to say about your mis-matched china being "odd couples." I thought that you made a good analogy between the china and real-life married couples.

  16. What a great idea! I'm not sure where you live, Trish, but there's a quaint, (very "chi-chi") restaurant in Central Florida that's known for their mis-matched china and cutlery.

I love blue and white dishes too. I have a whole set of antique blue and white transferware china (packed away right now.) Blue and white is just classic. It works with everything. Your pieces are beautiful.

  19. I also love blue and white china and love collecting old pieces. My problem is I have nowhere to display them ( I should early next year when we get shelving built into the walk). The current shelfs are no good as Ruby the cat likes to walk along tops of shelves! As for flowers in vases, not at the moment, Ruby takes them out and covers the floor in flower petals.
