Hearts for Home ~ January 11

Tuesday has arrived, so once again it's time for me to chat with Gae and the Hearts for Home ladies, about housekeeping goals for this week. :-)
I am pleased to see that most of my 'to do' list for last time was achieved over the past week.
The exception being the yardwork, which didn't get done due to the rain which kept us ducking in and out of the house. But my hubby was most grateful to find that our thoughtful young neighbour, who we heard mowing his front lawn, had come over and cut the grass for us as well! He knew it was difficult for my husband to manage pushing the lawnmower one-handed so he just took care of the mowing for him as a surprise. What a blessing it is to have such a nice christian family next door. They are members of our church and we praise the Lord for them!
Well..my hubby has decided that we need some major changes in our home. For one thing, we want to try to sell quite a few surplus things to bring in some extra income, so this week my tasks include..

#1 culling sundry items around the house which we don't need and which can be sold in a garage sale.
#2 packing away other things to keep but which are cluttering up various rooms.
#3 drastically simplifying the decor! Having a husband who restores furniture for a living and loves antiques means we've acquired a lot of lovely old furniture. We simply don't need it all -  it's time to bite the bullet and let some go!!
#4 embrace change!
#5 take a steam train ride with friends ( I know that's not homemaking-but it's a fun reward after the hard work!! )
#6 Pray, pray and pray again - as usual :-)

I wonder what goals you have in mind to make a difference in your home this coming week?
If you like - you can share them with the lovely Gae and her Tuesday meme ladies..

  2. What a blessed week you have had dear friend!

I agree with you on your husband loving antiques...mine does to. But clutter is something he does not like at all. I like the cottage look with things in vignettes...not him - Bless his heart :) He has pulled aside many a time to tell...'please Maria, less is more'...and he is usually right :)

Thank you for sharing and for your prayers!

    Maria.

  3. It's not easy to know what to let go and what to keep is it? Good luck with your tasks.

  4. Dear tRish,
What a blessing to have sucha a generous neighbour.Even wehn people think these things they often don't do it.
How is your dear husband recovering? Is it going as planned?
I imagine you must have some beautiful pieces of furniture and someone will love them as much as you if you don't need them all.
I love your "Embrace Change" it can be so hard to do.
Enjoy your train ride with friends though, it is part of keeping a heart content.
    Blessings dear friend

  5. Hello ladies,
    Thanks for the comments :-)
I must say, it's a little hard to let some items go in this cleanup we've started - but I know it's for the best and needs to happen. I'm determined to be disciplined about it lol!
Gae my hubby is doing ok..thanks for asking.
He should have the wire out of the finger next week and start physio to get it moving again.
It is a real trial for him to be inactive-as it is for most men!!
That's one change he does NOT want to embrace :-D
    blessings to all..Trish
