In the morning, let me know Your love
for I put my trust in You.
Make me know the way I should walk:
to You.. I lift up my soul.

Good morning my lovely friends...
A warm Wednesday welcome to L.A.C.E.
A warm Wednesday welcome to L.A.C.E.
Today, I'm sharing with you some pictures of a 'new' lampshade that I bought yesterday at my local St Vincent De Paul shop.
I had ventured out in the blustery cold winds of winter to accompany a dear friend, who insisted on taking me out to lunch to celebrate my recent birthday.
After sharing delicious piping hot vegetable soup - made by my son who runs a cafe - we started to do 'the rounds' of the Op shops in town.
This is something we enjoy together and get much entertainment from - usually finding wonderful bargains for the home or the family's wardrobe.
Now I know, there are ladies who cringe at the idea of purchasing secondhand goods from Goodwill and Op shops, but I personally find nothing distasteful in scoring a treasure from such stores.
The money to be saved by this frugal shopping can be quite substantial and in this day and age every penny saved is important!
Besides which, the financial aid we provide to the charity itself , is a real blessing which flows on from them in ministry to other needy souls!
It's simply a 'win-win' situation in my humble eyes :-)
At any rate, yesterday's prize for me was this pretty calico lampshade with a soft lace trim and green bow which I bought for just $3.00 !
Wasn't that a great find?
That's cheaper than a cup of coffee.. and more to my taste anyhow lol!
I paired it with my favourite hand-painted, floral vintage base, and today it really pleased me to sit with a nice cup of hot tea and read my morning devotions by it's gentle light.
A simple, cheerful little touch of LACE to start my days.. a very good thing indeed!
Friends, I'd love to hear how you bring some LACE into your life too..
I invite you to share with us how your days are embellished by lovely touches of beauty and grace.

ReplyDeleteOh, and, Trish - I make a monthly pilgrimage to the host of thrift stores in my area looking for new stories to tell and goods to creatively re-purpose, giving them new life and usefulness. Isn't that what God does with us?
Joy!

Dear Trish,
ReplyDeleteI love the lampshade, too! :) I think that shopping at thrift stores who support charity is a wonderful thing, and it's good for the environment! Plus, you find many things that are higher quality and not made anymore.
Love,
Marqueta

ReplyDeleteHi Trish,
ReplyDeleteYour new lampshade is lovely and it looks very pretty on your favourite lamp. I love shopping at thrift stores and supporting our charities. I have brought home many an item which I painted or dolled up in some way to make it more my own. It's both fun and economical to do that. My post is honouring the men in my life, including my heavenly Father. Thank you for hosting and I wish you a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Sandi
Trish,
ReplyDeleteYou lamp shade is very pretty. Actually, I thought that you were talking about the lacy table cloth on your table, ha, ha (I like that too - the table cloth, that is)!
I always shop at discount stores. It saves on the finances, and when you live on one income, it is the smartest way to you. You should not feel any shame in this.
I'm sorry I didn't participate in L.A.C.E.this week. Maybe next week??
Blessings,
-L. Rose
Your lampshade is beautiful.

What a great lamp, an excellent fine. Also love the tablecloth on the table, it is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have enough op shops in my town which is a bit sad. I often use EBay.
Hi - I'm participating here for the first time. This is a great way to bless people.
ReplyDeleteHi Trish,
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know that I didn't link up correctly. I'm not sure what happened but I tried it again, and it worked! God Bless!
Oh what a cute shade! I find nothing wrong with thrifting either. ;o) I love it!
