Pink Saturday~ Sakura

 Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms,
Blanketing the countryside
As far as you can see.
Is it a mist, or clouds?
Fragrant in the morning sun.
Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms, Flowers in full bloom.

Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms,
Across the Spring sky,
As far as you can see.

Is it a mist, or clouds?
Fragrant in the air.

Come now, come,
Let’s look, at last!
*
Cherry blossoms petals..breathtaking in their delicate pink beauty.
Hanging heavy from the boughs for just a while.. then quietly falling like satin snow on waiting grass below.
Each year I eagerly await the appearance of these beautiful flowers, savouring their short season.
Sweet memories of Spring!

It is cold and grey here at home today, so to cheer myself up I thought I would share some photos (from last Spring) of my Cherry tree with you ..and a beautiful video of the spectacular Sakura blossoms of Japan.
The verses beneath the photos are the translation of the traditional Japanese folksong "Sakura", which you can hear on the clip.
One of the 'dreams' my husband and I share, is to one day travel to Japan for the annual Cherry Blossom Festivals that are held across that beautiful country.
And if our dream remains just that..we at least have a glimpse of the reality of it, sitting under our own sakura in the sun.
I hope you have a blessed weeekend, my friends.
One that's filled with dreams and beauty for you, too!
Trish

  1. Hi Trish,

Pink is one of my most favorite colors and the Cherry Tree blooms the most perfect color pink. You captured it's perfection in every photo. You have a great eye for photography.

Awesome, that you included the video.

God bless you friend, and your weekend
    Michele

  2. I just love cherry blossom and I can remember when I was growing up on an orchard watching the farm change colour to all those gorgeous pinks of the blossom. It was magical.

  3. This was beautiful! I never knew what Sakura meant. Never took the time to look it up. :-)
Our favorite restaurant to eat sushi is called Sakuras, and my favorite lotion is Bath and Body Works Cherry Blossom and Japanese Cherry Blossom!
I just love the trees when they are in bloom!
    Thanks for posting about this,
    Blessings,
    Anne

  7. Hi Trish - Am new to Pink Saturdays and A return to Loveliness and am thrilled to be meeting so many kindred spirits! You have a new follower in me and I'll be adding you to my blog list immediately! After my morning devotionals, I enjoy my tea while curling up on my love seat overlooking my front garden, listening to my birds and reading through my blog list on my Nook Color. Looking forward to getting to know you and Lily-Rose Cottage better in this way. Joy to you!
