Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah,
and he married Rebekah.
So she became his wife and he loved her;
and Isaac was comforted... Gen 24:67
The gently-fading presence of a small and precious picture
causes me to stop and pray again.
As I gaze back through the window of our happiness and love
and see the blossoming of it's fragile seed,
I recall sweet invocations of my heart for my beloved
and my desire to be all for him!
For to him and in his eyes,
I am still the Rebekah of his choosing,
but I often wonder, do I comfort my Isaac as he so rightly deserves?
And like Sarah long before me..
do I give him proper honour as my husband and love him as my lord?
I pray for grace to answer, "Yes!" and always may it be!!
For though the years may pass away and photos dim with age..
still, angels take up their instruements to play,
when I am in his arms.

You said it perfectly. Always a pleasure to read your words.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful. Having God as an active Head of every part of a marriage is incomparable. It's like having color instead of the just human romance in black and white.
