Prayer Bells
When little things upset you and your peace of mind you loseand patience seems so very far away,
remember that you hold the power..you can freely choose
the kind of thoughts you think and what you'll say.
A sigh, a moan, a callous look, a scowl can say a lot
A tensing of the shoulders quickly tells
that as the day has gone along there's something you forgot-
to answer gentle ringing of your inner chapel bells.
For in the centre of your heart, is a holy meeting place
where angel-bells play notes on spirit's ear,
announcing 'God is present, let us come before His Face.
Let earthly din be silent now. The Holy One is here!'
He comes to talk to you today-to tell you of His love
and how He understands your daily plight.
How you can find the peace and joy that comes from Him above
and how He longs to make your dark mood bright.
But if your day is full of roar and tumbling like an ocean
and tosses you about in sheer distress,
if everywhere you turn to look you simply see commotion
and your world explodes around you in a mess,
it's very hard to keep yourself from falling into rage-
on those days that seem to be out of control.
You take it out on others in frustration and tirades
or escape to ignore it in a mental hiding-hole.
While all the time His Voice is gently calling "Come to Me
for I am here to help you in your task.
Be not depressed nor angry - oh my daughter, can't you see?
that wisdom, grace and strength of will I give to those who ask!
Whatever this day brings, My child, you will not be alone
for I am with you- listening when you pray
I've come to live My life within- your heart is now My home
and I hearken to the words I hear you say.
So instead of running wildly without purpose or control
simply turn your inner ear from time to time
for throughout the day you'll find more peace is flooding in your soul
if you listen for the bells that angels chime.
They bid you come before Me and present your daily care
and find comfort in My all-sustaining grace.
Joy and peace are yours to take - simply balanced on a prayer
noise and chaos will go quietly.. when you humbly seek My Face."

Oh Trish - You must know how very timely this little poem has been for me tonight as I mentally prepare myself to go to work in the morning. Some disturbing changes in my workplace - I need the Lord in a big way just now, as I navigate stormy seas - desiring to be faithful to Him in the midst of troubled waters. Thanks you so much for posting - the LACE is lovely!
ReplyDeleteJoy!

Reading this little poem about prayer tonight (yest, it's currently 9:16 p.m. as I type this :) has truly warmed my heart as well as my soul. Thank you for this gentle reminder to remember to be close to Christ when we fill down or lonely.
ReplyDeleteHello Dear Friend,
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read. I felt as if it was written just for me. The words "My Child" and "Daughter" always pierce my heart because I know one day I will hear those words audibly for all of eternity. AMEN!!
Trish, I thank God for you.
Love and hugs,
Michele
Sweet friend - what a blessing this poem is!
ReplyDeleteJust the words of stopping the world and listen to the bells...here in the mountains, the church, that happens to be our neighbor, plays the bells every hour with two hymns. So I have to stop and remember. !
love,
m.b.
Hello dear Trish,
ReplyDeleteSuch a timely post! I have been in the middle of a family situation which is extremely unpleasant and oftentimes, the old nature can rise up and stir up unwanted emotions such as the pain of rejection. I am so very thankful for His Spirit who gently comes and ministers to my heart. Once again He reminds me to focus on Him and His love and goodness. I often contemplate on my favourite verse from Phil. 4:8. Thank you for sharing. Wishing you a delightful day, my friend.
Blessings,
Sandi
