LACE~ my husband's birthday!

Today is my beloved husband's birthday!
He is the joy of our family's heart and we are so blessed to have him!!

He has always filled our home with music, and passed on his talent for playing it (as well as his good looks!) to our sons who make him very proud!

Here he is standing beside a photo which was recently exhibited in our regional Art Gallery.
It shows him playing his banjo and evangelising in our main street on a Saturday morning back in the 1980s.
As a preacher and worship leader, he has blessed many congregations over the years and brought much glory to our Lord who gave him this beautiful gift!

A big kid at heart - he is still full of fun and adventure...

with a comic flair for the dramatic art of exageration and story-telling.

His wacky sense of humour is reknowned, and both our boys have inherited his gift for joy and the ability to look on the brighter side of life :-)
This is what our youngest son wrote in his father's birthday card :

Dad, a great man (me) once said  "With a great moustache comes great responsibility."
So I partially owe thanks to your 'mo' for giving you great parenting power!
Anyone would be lucky to have you as their dad, but thank heavens it was I.
I truly believe I must carry on your reputation, wisdom and strength.
So from this day forth - no razor shall touch the space between my nose and upper lip!
Happy birthday Dad
love "son"

My husband's moustache is the butt of many friendly family jokes, as none of us has seen him without it - including me.
He has been able to keep his top lip hidden for at least 45 years so far lol!

But all jokes aside..I want to acknowledge all his hard work over the years and the deep self-sacrificing love he has for his family.
He is our rock and our hero!!
On this his special day..we honour him for being such a wonderful and godly husband and father.
Happy Birthday Sweetheart -we love you dearly!!

  1. Hi Trish,

This was such a wonderful post to read. I want to wish your husband a very happy birthday. You are right, he is very handsome. You have a beautiful family.

I'm now wondering what he would look like without a mustache :o)

God bless you and your family,
    Big hugs~

  2. What a beautiful tribute to your husband! I had to smile when you mentioned that your husband's sons inherited his good looks, ha, ha! :)

At any rate, I am sure that your husband had a nice big smile on his face as he read this post. How blessed he must be to have a Proverbs 31 wife (you) that appreciates him so much! :)

  4. Trish! We're celebrating Thanksgiving today in America - and it would appear you are celebrating Thanksgiving, too - thanking the Lord for such a Godly husband and father on his birthday today. Blessings on the birthday boy and his family!
Thanks for the lovely thoughts you shared on your comments about my five part Thanksgiving series - I enjoyed writing it and love recalling our His Story - my faith is always renewed!
My husband's back will be a slow mend - he is not keen on sitting and laying around. You are right, he prefers to be working. While we left him home from mid-week service last night, he vacuumed and mopped the house so it would be ready for company today. He said the ibuprofen took the edge off enough to do so. Said moving around keeps his mind off the pain rather than sitting around. Crazy fella. Your prayers are precious to us. Thank you!
Happy to link in today - and hope to be back with some Simple Joys next week!

    Joy!
    Kathy

  8. You are so blessed with such a wonderful hubby. I love the joke about the mustache. I will have to show my boys and hubby this. [o= My hubby always has a mustache and the short time he didn't I wanted it back! I love his mustache and wouldn't want it any other way. I pray blessings on your hubby's coming year. May his humor and love for the Lord continue fervently.

  11. What a beautiful tribute to your husband! It's so wonderful to hear a woman praise her husband instead of tear him down which sadly happens so often. Thank you for sharing your thoughts for a truly Godly man.

I'm so happy to be able to participate with LACE this week; it's been awhile. :o)
