Autumn in May

Through the side gate and into my front garden I go..

to witness falling maple stars on a cool May day.

Dogwood leaves have lain in patient silence all week long

waiting to welcome the Liquidamber's downward drift

but she is holding on..still straining for the sky.

The maple nods her yellow crown and whispers knowingly,
"It won't be long, dear Dogwood friend, until we all embrace.

For here beneath my boughs today..is life all soft in sleep!"

  1. I must say Trish, that even though I am in the beginning of Spring here, it is comforting to know that you are enjoying such a beautiful season yourself - Autumn! :)

Thank you for visiting the cottage and for extending your precious hand in friendship.

    Be a blessing today...

  2. Hi Trish! Thank you for your well wishes for my son! Fall is my favorite season, so I am enjoying your pictures. I seem to yearn for fall mid-summer here...but it is only spring still. I have a few liquidamber trees....the seed balls drive us crazy (!...) but the birds are a joy and they like the seeds. I like your sleeping life! love, andrea

  9. Your garden is certainly looking beautiful this autumn season. It's almost summer time here, so all are leaves have gone "into hiding." I also enjoyed your poetic words throughout this post. They were very soothing and relaxing. I hope you're having a blessed day! :)
