The light that shines farthest, shines brightest at home.
It is the set of sails and not the gales that determines the path you go.
Never doubt in the dark what God has shown you in the light.
We are not promised skies always blue, but a Helper to see us through.
we must pray "my kingdom go!"
The above quotes are from the book Amish Peace
Hello dear friends,
it's a very cold autumn day here in our corner of the australian countryside!
So I am sitting all tucked up on the sofa in front of a roaring fire,
and warming myself with a hot frothy cup of Chai Latte Tea.
It's one of my favourite brews for thawing out with on such a day as this.
It's the kind of day that settles over you like an old coat..
begging you to sit quietly and simply "be".
A grand day for just looking out the windows and for reading and thinking.
Right now I'm thinking about...
how blessed I am to be home on this miserable day
and how grateful I am for my husband who lit the fire for me at lunchtime.
About.. how little I really need to be happy-
a loving family.. a comfortable home.. and a God Who watches over me day and night.
About good health.. and how ours has been compromised this past week
and has laid us low with sore throats, wheezing chests and body pains.
All the joys of a "winter flu"!
And I'm thinking about prayer and the immense power of it
and the great grace of knowing people who will pray for me and mine..as I do for them.
It's a day to think..and give thanks
and count myself blessed!
Though the sky is grey and bleak outside and the air is sharp and cold,
inside, I am warm and at peace and content to sit and wait on the Lord for my healing.
(Wait, my soul, upon God and trust in Him,
for He will come and deliver you!)
What a beautiful..cold and yet comforting.. day it is here, today.
I pray yours is a very blessed one too, my friends!

Good morning Trish,
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely post, my friend! I always enjoy Amish literature. Their simple way of live and faith can teach us much. Thanks for hosting and enjoy your day, dear friend.
Blessings and hugs,
Sandi
You described why I love autumn so much...getting all cozy and warm inside while outside it's cold and windy. :o)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the photos too and the quotes are wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
How's your tooth? I know last week we were both having dental "issues". :o)
I'm happy to join in with Simply Sweet today, too.
Have a great week,
Sandra
I love days like this and that cute tea mug of yours. :-)
ReplyDeleteLots of wisdom in these quotes and I'll have to remember to re-read this post sometime this coming winter when we're snowed and iced in. :-)
Very encouraging ~ counting our blessing daily. :-)
God bless,
Anne♥
oh i'm sooo with you on that fireside chai! thank you for sharing your gratitude and inspiring us with it :)
ReplyDelete"Before we can pray 'Thy kingdom come' we must pray "'my kingdom go!'"
ReplyDeleteThis little quote really stood out to me as I was reading your inspiring post. It's so true, yet sometimes, it's hard to "let go" of your kingdom.
I'm sorry to hear that you and your husband are ill. I pray that both of you will recover from your illnesses soon.
P.S. I have that book "Amish Peace." I need to start reading it. :)
Rainy days can become such a gift...I use them to sew and putter around the cottage. Then when the sun visits again, I can go out and enjoy it fully! :)
ReplyDeleteBe peace and love today my friend,
m.
I liked this post; simplicity really shines here. Sometimes illness forces us to appreciate simple things at home. Hope you're feeling better now, though.

Hello, dear lady! We're having chilly spring days of late - but then suddenly we'll have summertime temperatures for a day or two. Ah! That is the magic of the season - and all our flowers peeking out, too! While you say goodbye to your blooms for a bit. But, how lovely that we can share the love of the Lord in both seasons - and all seasons!! Simply sweet - enjoy your cozy fire - and love the little slice of Amish Peace . . .
ReplyDeleteJoy!
