Pottering around the garden, I came upon it slow.
The play of light and shadow on ruffle-edged rhubarb
beckoned me to stop.. and notice it.
beckoned me to stop.. and notice it.
Commissioned by the vein-threaded beauty,
I then set out to see what other contrasts I could find.
Bamboo, under the brown pergola, stretched up it's lanky branches
I then set out to see what other contrasts I could find.
Bamboo, under the brown pergola, stretched up it's lanky branches
and strained to catch the last of the day's sunkisses on it's lime-green face
while the dappled little lemon tree all gold and warm,
soaked in the bright intensity of the day.
Indoors, the pale-pitted wooden duck carved by firstborn son,
sat atop black scales with it's back braced before the simmering window-glass.
And I prepared to resume my tasks with thoughts set on the evening meal to come,
but stood transfixed and still instead..while interposing shadows cut the scene
For suddenly appearing (like a resurrected One)
all across my kitchen dressed in white-
ran the Light!
all across my kitchen dressed in white-
ran the Light!

ReplyDeleteHello Trish,
ReplyDeleteI love that song; listening to it and singing it!
What a wonderful image the light made of the cross displayed on the wall; a lovely yet humble reminder of His love for us!
Thank you for a thoughtful and lovely post. Wishing you a delightful week.
Blessings and hugs,
Sandi
Dear Trish,
ReplyDeleteA beautiful post, this.
Just the sort that resonates with me! You are observant - these fleeting glimpses don't last long in the day, but the Light does.
Blessings to you,
xxx Hazelnut
Thank you for your kind comment on my blog, Trish as well as inviting me to your lovely link-up!
ReplyDeleteDid you know I have been a blog reader of yours for some time now?!
I am that bright fushia rose in the GFC box:)
My profile picture has changed, but I haven't changed my GFC picture yet!
I loved this post and the song. We sing it during our family Bible time!
ReplyDeleteThank you for choosing and using my free blog header, Trish! I can't tell you how excited I was to see one at the top of someone's blog!!
I hope to have some backgrounds made up for them when I get the time; ones that are easy to use with the new template designer.
Right now though, I 've got to get back to finishing up homeschool prep. for tomorrow:)
so pretty! oh, how i wish i could grow a lemon tree in my home (too cold outside for one) and not enough happy light inside! it's just so pretty & the blossoms smell delightful! thank you so much for linking up to Fishtail Cottage's garden party this week! oxox, tracie
