We have a new patch of rhubarb growing amidst the violets and lilies,
the buds on our peach tree are fattening up and are almost ready to bloom,
self-seeded parsley has filled a bare spot near the lavender and calendula,
our lemons are swelling nicely (hope they will be juicy!!)
the centaurina hedge along the rockery is getting taller
and yet, we've still been waking up to some very frosty mornings.
Inside..hubby has been working on a small pine cupboard which we picked up last week for $10 at our local tip "recycling shop".
It was painted glossy black but we stripped it back and gave it a few coats of white to match our kitchen cabinets.
It fits beautifully on the short wall between the kitchen and sitting room and holds some of my older teapots and china.
A few weeks ago we found this old painted kauri pine cupboard at the same place and paid a measly $20 for it.
So far, we've taken out the centre timber panels and replaced them with chicken-wire, and will change the handles on it eventually.
It sits in the family/dining room and as you can see, I'm using it to house some of my craft projects and supplies.
Well, there you have it..our two "new" antique cupboards for just $30.
Re-cycled..re-purposed...re-loved :-)
That's pretty good "picking" in my book.

Your garden is doing well even the frosts don't seem to have done much harm.
ReplyDeleteI like the cupboard with chicken wire, I think it looks pretty good and handy to see whats in it.
Merle.......
You have made those cupboards so attractive. What a find!
ReplyDeleteYes, good picking indeed! They look just perfect where you've placed them and very nice job refinishing too. Spring is springing there as well. Lemons! I can't grow them where I live. The climate is too cold here. That's nice to have fresh lemons!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you,
Anne♥
