Housewives Knees

Housewives knees.
We busy homemakers take them for granted quite a lot, don't we? These faithful joints carry us around day after day; and we just expect them to keep working and not ever complain or quit. Perhaps we ought to show them some more attention and appreciation. What would be a good way to say "thanks for all your silent service over these many years"?
A nice hot bubble bath? Soothing creams? A massage? They all sound very relaxing and enjoyable! And surely our knees deserve a little treat like this now and then.
These knobbly bumps our children clung to when learning to walk or when frightened or feeling shy.
These noble hinges they swung from and climbed up on to find our soft lap for a nap.
These friends who often nearly buckled under the loads we placed upon them by constant housework, gardening and grocery shopping.

If they could talk I wonder what position they would choose to be in most of all. Supported by soft cushions while we read or watch TV, huddled in the 'fetal position' in bed, straightened as we cook daily meals at the stove, flexing back and forth at the gym, absorbing the pressure as we take our 'power walks' along the pavements?

Or kneeling in prayer for our beloved family?

They excel at that one. Maybe they are happiest when doing what they do best. Especially knowing that any pain they may feel is a small price to pay for eternal results. Yes..I think they like this position best. Maybe that's why they make it hard for us to get up from it occasionally!

" Come let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker."
psalm 95:6
