LACE~ Picnik

Hello ladies,
A warm Wednesday welcome to LACE!
Today, I thought I'd have some fun by answering a few queries about how I made my header.
I used a photo editing program called Picnik which you can access for free on the web.
I always wondered how people got their photos assembled in a collage, and made into those personalised and great looking blog headers.
Well, a few weeks back I discovered Picnik on the Net and started playing around with it, and "lo and behold!" pretty soon I'd made myself a collage header :-)
I have to say..it can be addictive!
The free program offers you many ways of tweaking your images and it's really enjoyable seeing the different effects you can come up with.
I spent quite a bit of time working with my pics and making all sorts of changes.
For example..I made today's picture by choosing one of my colour photos,
which I then cropped down to just the cross,
I changed the colour to black and white with a slight tint on the wood,
then I used a soft focus to blur the edges,
set it in a vignette,
added some text,
and lastly put a matte frame around it.
I found it to be a great way to relax and be creative.. and just maybe end up with something I might want to print out or keep permanently :-)
So for those who asked about it, the website is http://www.picnik.com/app#/home/welcome
Check it out and have some fun playing with your photos or images you've saved.
Oh, and perhaps for art classes for homeschoolers..you can make amazing posters or change photos into sketches with it as well!
I thought that would great for teaching kids to draw by following the outlines.
Anyway..something a little different from me for today's LACE lol!
Now, I can't wait to see what you want to share this week..

Ladies, this is a place to share posts on the blessings and beauty of our vocation as Christian women - happy in the heart of our homes! Please feel free to share a devotional, craft, cooking, family event or tea post etc.
Whatever you like - I simply require that it be an uplifting blessing to all.

  3. Hi Trish! The Picnik program looks interesting. May look into that - i have Printshop and Picture Manager, plus my new Canon has a program with it, too - but I wonder if Picnik does anything different from the others. Something to look into - always want to improve on the visuals.
Our Garden VBS is postponed this week due to a special Children's Ministry guest, but I'll resume the garden blogs next week. It is very interesting. The biggest thing that happened this week is that those villain rabbits ate every single one of the green bean plants! There's a spiritual lesson there I shall have to explore!

  7. Good morning Trish,
Picnik is a program I have looked at many times but I've been too timid to use it. I will give it a go and see what happens. Thank you for sharing and have a delightful week, my friend.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  9. Thank you Trish for the information on creating a collage. It's even better that you found it on the internet for free! I've also wondered how other bloggers were able to do so :) You obviously learned and mastered how to do it well. Yours is lovely!

  12. Thanks for the link and information on how to make those collage borders. I have been wanting to do this for sometime, but not sure how to do it. I'm not very technologically inclined, so hopefully, I don't make too much of a mess!

BTW, I'm glad that you are doing these L.A.C.E. link-ups each Wednesday. They are simply lovely just like you, Dear Friend. :)

  13. Hi Trish! Didn't expect there to be any garden activity this week because of the special ministry guests, but we took the older kids out to deal with a big problem! The next installment of our garden saga was particularly special to me.
    Joy!
