"When God wants to prepare a man for a great mission,He first prepares a noble mother, and puts the child into her bosom to be trained ...
Nearly all the truly great men of the world have received the inspiration and stamp of their lives from their mothers. When Moses was to be trained for his work, the Lord put the little babe back in the hands of its mother as his first teacher.
There is no doubt that in preparing Mary to be the mother of the Saviour, the rarest and loveliest graces of womanhood were wrought by God into her nature ...
She was his first teacher. Her love wrapped Him around in its warm folds in His earliest infancy and through all His youth and young manhood. Her sweet life was the atmosphere that hung over His tenderest years. Her prayers kept heaven lying ever close about Him. Her hands guided His feet and shaped His character.
What a blessed mission is that of a mother, any mother! What woman in whose arms God has laid an immortal life will despise her glorious calling?
What woman so honoured will not die rather than prove unfaithful to her holy trust?"J R Miller

Dear friends,
Dr Miller has me meditating on the awesomeness of the makings of a new mother, and so I've been wondering..
Dr Miller has me meditating on the awesomeness of the makings of a new mother, and so I've been wondering..
How much do we really treasure the sacred gift and mystery of motherhood?
Or truly understand the eternal work that God begins in the secret place of His choosing?
It seems to me that in granting a new life to be carried within the womb of a woman..
He forever changes the destiny and calling of both souls!
One becomes "mother".. forever.
One becomes "child".. forever.
He prepares..
He performs..
He provides..
all that is necessary for the forging of the two new personsonalities that He desires to bring into being at the birth of a precious child!
His sacred treasury is opened and the riches of His benevolent love are liberally dispersed - they infuse the action He performs at this great and holy event.
For, besides the exhilarating joy and wonder at the sweet smallness of the eagerly awaited babe, there is the awesome mystery of the bringing forth of an immortal soul created in God's own image!
And in that glorious creation moment..a transistion takes place.. as from the one visible body..suddenly two are seen..and a Third is glorified!
The mystery begins to unfold..
The mystery begins to unfold..
A mother comes forth with her child,
forever changed.
She becomes a living icon of the God of Life!
forever changed.
She becomes a living icon of the God of Life!

Good morning Lily,
ReplyDeleteI love being a mom! I have worn several hats in my lifetime but my most important job was being a mom; a stay-at-home-mom. I wish I could do it all over again. I enjoyed my children so much and the years have gone by too fast. Today, we are all very close. I am blessed! Thank you for posting such an important message and enjoy your day, my friend.
Blessings,
Sandi
I really appreciated this post. Us mothers are told our job is not that important by the worlds terms. So much that we are told we should have our kids raised by others who are trained and that we should go to work. I am thankful I didn't believe the lies and have chosen to raise my 4 boys to be godly men.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and ((HUGS))

Thanks for the good words! I love being a mom!
ReplyDeleteOh - I'm so sorry Trish! I posted my LACE the first time and when I clicked back to comment it wasn't there. I don't know what happened. I thought it didn't go through. I posted it again and - there - now it's up twice - as though I'm hogging the works today! So sorry! Just a "little" LACE to cheer the heart.
ReplyDeleteAs for your LACE today - I just had to share the link with a dear friend of mine on facebook. You were describing her and the call she has discovered in raising the uniquely gifted daughter - now homeschooling and thriving. Such an awe inspiring presentation on "mother" - a calling not to be taken lightly ever! And, how many poor children are brought into the world today by women with no desire to be a mother - just desire. God, save the children!
Joy!
Kathy
Hi Trish, I need to remember that I am blessed to be a mother of my son even though I had hoped to be blessed with more children. His will was for me to have one child, my son and I'm truly grateful. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteIt is a privilege to be one.
ReplyDeleteThank you Trish for sharing this today.

Unfortunately, I am not a Mother yet, and as I grow older, I wonder if I ever will be. :(
ReplyDeleteAt any rate, Motherhood is a very important and high calling for women. So, any woman who is a Mother should take this calling very seriously, and enjoy ever moment of it!
Amen...I know I was changed forever with the birth of my children. I will celebrate 28 years of parenting with my son's birthday and I can say it is by far the one thing I have never regretted. What a true blessing.
ReplyDeleteYou have said it so well.
I think as far back as I can remember I wanted to be a wife and mom and stay at home with my children (just like my mom :) ) I can't imagine myself doing anything more important!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely day
Hugs))
Dear Trish,
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful post! Motherhood has changed me more than anything else in my life. It is indeed a privilege that should not be taken lightly.
I love the dear little baby bottom in the first painting; it could be my Rebecca!
Love,
