A simple pleasure I enjoy is gazing from our loungeroom window where I can see the open sky and rising peak of our mountain. It's presence is inescapable and compelling. Always different..always inspiring..always a challenge to capture and frame. It's cameleon personality always playful and teasing..refusing to be the same as yesterday.

Every day and indeed many times a day, it changes colour and mood as it dominates the scenery of our rural existence. Throughout the seasons it is dressed in hues of cherry, apple and nectarine blossoms, greened and purpled by grape garlands from young vineyards intertwining with the older orchards of our pioneers.

Sometimes it wears a fluffy hat and scarf of misty grey-white cloud, sullen and silent, peeping out occasionally to see if we are still here after the tirade of a rain-laden thunderstorm.

Other days it throws it's face toward the yellow sun, dancing in the warm light like a child, barefoot on the fresh grass.

At night..all the drama of a Spanish Flamenco orange-pink and red-black lace bursts above and about to twirl the flaming skirt of evensong.
It's many moods..a never ending fascination of God's creative genius..display the power of His majesty.
Strong like a man..mysterious as a woman..constant as a mountain.

Absolutely breathtaking! There is something about the vastness of a mountain and especially the sun peeking up or setting behind it that just fills me up completely. One of God's greatest works of art! Thank you for sharing this!

I love looking at the clouds, they are often so beautiful - they should all the different moods and emotions that we are humans show and feel. We live on a magnificent planet created by God and so many people forget to look at what He has made for us.
ReplyDeleteAnd to think, this is just outside your door!
