My Simple Pleasure this week is my reading glasses.
Without them, I would have a hard time reading your lovely blogs and fellowshiping with you all.
Sadly, my head and eyes would simply ache too much for me to stay and visit with you !
And there are so many other everyday things that I need my 'specs' for now - without these aids, I would not see the blue-ness of my hubby's eyes or the tiny writing on food labels that I need to check for allergens, or be able to thread a sewing needle, and I certainly couldn't get my head stuck in a favourite book for very long- just to name few!
And to think - when I began to notice my sight changing, I stubbornly put off getting glasses and struggled on needlessly, trying to see with my much poorer eyesight. But once I got these little 'beauties' my life changed dramatically for the better!
I'm sure you know how common it is for folks to need eyeglasses as we age, and I actually have a little theory about that.
Perhaps it's all in 'the plan'.
As the wrinkles in our faces increase.. the ability to clearly see them decreases.
You know something-I think that's a grace God gives to married couples :-)
As we place our glasses on our nightstands and turn to say goodnight, in each others eyes we suddenly become young and wrinkle-free again !
Well..it works for me lol!!
But you know what they say..love is blind ;-)
blessings..Trish
Come on over and join Dayle today and learn to take pleasure in the simple things in life :-)
Oh how cute you look with your glasses and your new cut! Love your pics today! :o) I am so dependent on my glasses!!! So happy to have them in my life or I wouldn't see anything and or be blind. :o(
ReplyDeleteThanks Nabila, you are so kind!
ReplyDeleteI have to tell you-I was very anxious about the cut lol! How much is plane ticket to your town ?!
love..Trish
I am with you on this one - I need my glasses for reading, craft work and watching TV as a result they are my best friend!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful blog!!
Sadly I finally gave in to glasses many, many years ago. LOL, I laugh at my DH and Sis cause they both still try to pretend they only need them to read. We will be shopping and my Sis will say, "oh look only 1.99," while eyes are squinched half shut. I'll say hummmm, "put your glasses on Sis, that's 19.99". I must admit I love my glasses cause I loveto see things bright and cleAR.
ReplyDeleteYou look quite cute in your glasses.
Molly
Hi Trish,
ReplyDeleteLove the new look, and as to wearing glasses ---I have needed mine for many years and now and when it comes to doing cross-stitch projects--- I have to wear magnifying glasses OVER my normal glasses AND work with a bright light.
Between needing hearing aids and two pair of glasses my grand children have a great deal of good natured fun at my expense.
God Bless
Barb
That's a lovely simple pleasure. I enjoyed reading your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteDear Trish,
ReplyDeleteyou are always beautiful in your heart, your thoughts and love. The glasses are an added focus for you. Continue to enjoy the newness of this experience.

your glasses are great and you look great in them. And I love what you wrote about wrinkles and glasses...love that....Have a gentle and wonderful day
ReplyDeleteThe glasses are just a tool! They do not detract from your beauty...your inner beauty shines through and your words are just pure wisdom!
ReplyDeleteThank you for allowing me to copy your words. They have helped tremendously in staying focus throughout my day.
Blessings dear stranger-friend :)No...not stranger anymore - you are now my friend. A lady that has taken the time to share herself in this "medium" and has allowed Our Lord to use her in such powerful ways!

Lovely thoughts!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you, I don't know I can function very well without them any longer. I too did put off getting them when I noticed that my vision was changing.
Blessings to you,
Katia
Oh my goodness, I LOVE THIS!! You're right. I think it is a grace gift. I can't wait to share this with my real life friends who are all, like me, struggling with our new uninvited accessory.
ReplyDeleteTrish, I absolutely loved this post! I would be lost without my readers, and have some in every room of the house. At times, it gets quite annoying, being ruled by such small things, but the pleasure they bring is truly priceless. I've always said God must have a sense of humor ... making "old" people have to keep up with something, but I never considered our failing eyes could also be an act of grace on His part. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteTrish,
ReplyDeleteActually, I have worn glasses for most of my life. Without them, I wouldn't be able to do much either. I could see things, but everyting would be unclear and blurry. Your post today has helped me to be thankful for my glasses.
Also, your pictures are cute. I especially like the picture of you peaking from behind one of your books. Your husband takes good pictures, tee hee. :)

ha! Love that last thought. :) The optician here actually told me to hold off using reading glasses as long as I can because once you start, there's no going back. When I cross-stitch or thread a needle or read small print on jars, I definitely need a little extra help. Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteDear Trish....Oh, that's a GREAT simple pleasure. I was like you regarding reading glasses. Didn't need them for a long, long time. Now I do. So I pick out the wildest frames I can find...colorful and fun! I even have "leopard" print reading glasses. It's so wonderful to be able to see clearly. Susan
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post I would be in a world of hurt without my specs too !! but I have worn them since I was like four ...
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing
It's so nice to see your face! I always just see the back of your head with your hat on. You are beautiful and I love your hair cut and your glasses.
ReplyDeleteMost of all, I love what you said in the love is blind paragraph! "As we place our glasses on our nightstands and turn to say goodnight, in each others eyes we suddenly become young and wrinkle-free again !" I'm just started on the wrinkles thing, but you know, it's just a nice thought about not seeing every imperfection.
Trish, I love it! I have bifocals, and it was so nice to get them and be able to see our preacher when I looked up, and my notes when I glanced down! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE the photo of you peeking over the book--beautiful!
Blessings,
Christine
Hello, Trish! I wanted to stop by for a visit and say "thank you" for your lovely comment. I enjoyed reading about your simple pleasure. I just started wearing reading glasses, and they really do make a difference!
ReplyDeleteOh how right you are. I wear monovision contacts which allow me to dispense with glasses during the day but at night after I take them out, when I look at myself in the mirror I look amazingly better! Cute post.
ReplyDeleteIsn't amazing what we miss in life due to vanity. I am amazed at people who fight glasses or a hearing aide, being silly with our children or grandchildren...such simple pleasures. Your glasses are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle at what you said of why it's part of the plan. Hee he. I am starting to notice I can't see as well as I use to but I haven't got to the point of needing the glasses to read and do my needle work. But the silly thing is I bought a funky pair that is a fun green plaid for when I do. *grin* They were to fun to pass up. And I don't think it will be too long before I might need them for my needlework. [0=
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting and saying such sweet words. I have really enjoyed joining this meme. You all are the friendliest meme I have ever been apart of, thank you.
Blessings in Him<><

Oh, that would be one of my simple pleasures too. I am so thankful for my reading glasses. Near 50 has made them a must. Don't laught near 40's--you're on your way too. I also like books that come with choice of large and giant print, like my Bible. hehehe Too much.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by yesterday. Enjoy your weekend. Much love to you!
Trish,
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful way to think about readers rather than complaining! And I have thought too, that sometimes it's a blessing to not be able to see the wrinkles as well. Plus, I am noticing that the lighter color of hair (read white) looks better with my (changing) face!
I thank God for my reading glasses regularly. Like you Trish, I just couldn't manage without them. Lots of life's simple pleasures would be out of my reach without them. Alittle miracle happens every time I put them on when those faces in photos or words on pages come into focus!
