Anyone who knows me, knows that I like to paint!
Walls, that is.
And they know that I do this quite a lot. So much so, that it's a running joke amongst our friends, who think I change wall colours as often as hubby changes socks!
I do enjoy a change every now and then, that's for sure :-D
I think I've been pretty good lately though - it must be 3 or 4 years since I painted the loungeroom.
It's true that I have no artistic talent for creating beautiful paintings to frame and hang.
But..I can happily paint the wall on which they would sit in all their glory!
So..guess what I'm doing today?
With my beloved husband no less!
Yes..we are making more changes in our little home this week.
Our loungeroom is being repainted white to freshen it up, ready for 2 sofas we recently bought on sale.
It's going to be lovely once it's done!
In the mean time, I have to keep calm about the mess that is inevitable once you embark on a large project like this.
In the mean time, I have to keep calm about the mess that is inevitable once you embark on a large project like this.
Actually, I sort of don't mind a bit of mess now and then, especially when I know the results are going to be worth the inconvenience of stepping over work tools and under ladders.
(Yes I said UNDER - no room for superstition in my house!)
I may be a little strange, but I love to see my hubby get enthused about some alteration that we can do in our abode. I get excited at the thought of knocking down walls and building extensions or swapping the kitchen with some other room etc.
Not that we can, mind you - I just love the idea!
However..I can do what is set before me at this moment - and do it with joy!
It feels very good to be freshening up the loungeroom space and continuing our de-cluttering venture.
Our aim of creating a calmer, simpler environment is very much needed and we are keen to choose this path in our small home.
The less 'stuff' we have, the more peace we'll gain!
With that in mind ..I am taking time to centre my Heart for Home again, and set some goals for the coming week, so with God's grace I shall try to:
1. Keep calm. Always a good thing when the house is in dis-array :-)
2. Keep helpful to my beloved as he does the heaviest part of the work we have begun together.
3. Keep commited to finishing the project and not give in to a little tiredness when things get tedious.
4. Keep appreciating my husband and his willingness to bring in some good changes to our home.
5. Keep praying. Lots to pray about - as always.
6. Keep a sense of humour! You never know when one will come in handy :-)
May the Lord KEEP YOU and me throughout the coming week, and continue to inspire us to discover fun, new and creative ways to cherish our home and family!
blessings..Trish

Happy painting. I quite enjoy painting, but I don't like the prep work or cleaning up. Number 3 is good, finishing a project is important and hard at times.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy painting also...but my walls will not take to the paint as smooth as it should...all walls here :)
ReplyDeleteBut it is such a joy to see the project to completion! :)
Thank you Trish for stopping by the cottage and being such an encourager to me.
in His Love,
Maria
Trish, I think it's ironic that when we start out with a project, things get worse before we finally see beauty. So it is with our life in Christ; we follow His will, and things don't look like we expect them to. But He is working beauty in our lives as we follow Him. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy painting day to you!
Christine
Oh how fun! Sounds like you are having lots of fun! :o) Can't wait to see the after pictures! ;o)
ReplyDeleteDear Trish,
ReplyDeleteI love to create a home that reflects my love of beauty too. How wonderful to have this as a project to do together. I look forward to seeing your finished results.
I cannot imagine you without a smiling and happy countence.
Have a blessed week
Gae
