Simple Pleasures~Healthy Food

Falafel balls and Hummus with Basil and Pine-nut Pesto.
Today's lunch!!
Simple and delicious..and healthy as far as I know, lol!

My hubby and I are trying to be good and eat a healthier diet these days.
This week's worrying episode with our friend landing in hospital after a heart attack, has made us more determined to take bettter care of ourselves.
Thank you to all who prayed for Philip!
He is back home and on blood-thinning meds and must take things easy for a while.
Turns out, he'd had 2 heart attacks over the weekend and if he'd had a 3rd one it would have been fatal.
Praise God, he got help in time!

  1. Sending continued well wishes for your friend. I took up a healthy lifestyle about 6 years ago because heart disease runs rampant on my dad's side of the family. He had bypass surgery when he was 45 which is the age I am now so I am trying to stay ahead of the curve. :) Falafel and homous are ready available here so I never make them at home. Have a healthy, happy day. Tammy

  6. I think eating healthy makes you feel good inside and out. There's just something about it that I like too.

I've long been considered crunchy granola.

  9. I so agree. Eating healthy is a simple pleasure. I posted about that a few weeks ago. You just feel good about yourself when you eat right, and your body responds to it, as well. (Pssst ... don't tell anyone I posted about a coconut pie today though ... tsk, tsk)

  12. Hi Trish,Pleased your friend is recovering from his heart attack.
Lunch sounds and looks lovely----but so does Dayles coconut pie----decisions, decisions....If I have a piece of both ,will they cancel each other out and have a negative effect on my health????....Probably not. But I can hope, can't I?????????

  14. Dear Trish,

I missed out on praying for your friend, but I will add him to my prayer list today, for a good recovery.

We LOVE falafel and hummus here; it's amazing what the humble chick pea can do!

    Love,

  15. Hi Trish,
I just read the comment I posted before...and I have said 'negative effect'on my body and I really meant 'Neutral effect' on my body.
Sadly, I think the first effect would be the one to happen.
Just had sliced apple and pear with shaved parmasan cheese for lunch..Joining you in healthy eating,
    God Bless

  16. I love hummus, our local Turkish takeaway makes the best Ive had. Great with carrot sticks, on pizza (after it has been cooked), with bread. . . Endless uses:)

  17. You lunch looks yummy, although I have never had hummus, so I have no idea what that would taste like. It looks good though. :)

I am grateful that Phillip is back home, and that the Lord spared him from a fatal heart attack. My father had one of those a long time ago, and it was quite a scary thing to endure.

Yes, eating healthier is always a good thing, but not always easy.
