My hubby and I are trying to be good and eat a healthier diet these days.
This week's worrying episode with our friend landing in hospital after a heart attack, has made us more determined to take bettter care of ourselves.
Thank you to all who prayed for Philip!
He is back home and on blood-thinning meds and must take things easy for a while.
Turns out, he'd had 2 heart attacks over the weekend and if he'd had a 3rd one it would have been fatal.
Praise God, he got help in time!

I'm joining Dayle to slow down and give thanks for simple, healthy food..and for the pleasure of answered prayers for a friend.
A wonderful simple pleasure.
ReplyDeleteSending continued well wishes for your friend. I took up a healthy lifestyle about 6 years ago because heart disease runs rampant on my dad's side of the family. He had bypass surgery when he was 45 which is the age I am now so I am trying to stay ahead of the curve. :) Falafel and homous are ready available here so I never make them at home. Have a healthy, happy day. Tammy
ReplyDeleteWow how scarey for your friend and sounds like a great idea...Diet and excercise are so important for our bodies to fight disease naturally~ I am really trying to eat healthier as well! I think eating healthy makes you feel good inside and out. There's just something about it that I like too.
ReplyDeleteI've long been considered crunchy granola.
Trish,
ReplyDeleteSo glad your friend is going to be okay. Love your Simple Pleasure as I'm trying to eat healthier too. Although I think I'm going to go with salads!
~Jean
Sounds like a nice light lunch. Hope you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI so agree. Eating healthy is a simple pleasure. I posted about that a few weeks ago. You just feel good about yourself when you eat right, and your body responds to it, as well. (Pssst ... don't tell anyone I posted about a coconut pie today though ... tsk, tsk)
ReplyDeleteGood to hear your friend is doing better. We eat lots of Hummus here too. :-)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Mmmmm hummus! Yum! I think I might eat that for lunch tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that your friend is doing better, and that he got help in time. God bless!
Hi Trish,Pleased your friend is recovering from his heart attack.
ReplyDeleteLunch sounds and looks lovely----but so does Dayles coconut pie----decisions, decisions....If I have a piece of both ,will they cancel each other out and have a negative effect on my health????....Probably not. But I can hope, can't I?????????
love Barb
Hello Trish,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely visit. I am so happy that your friend is better. We all need to have a healthier lifestyle.
I must come back and read more about your weekly meme.....it sounds wonderful. Seems I am always in a bit of a rush.
Blessings,
Barb
Dear Trish,
ReplyDeleteI missed out on praying for your friend, but I will add him to my prayer list today, for a good recovery.
We LOVE falafel and hummus here; it's amazing what the humble chick pea can do!
Love,
Marqueta
Hi Trish,
ReplyDeleteI just read the comment I posted before...and I have said 'negative effect'on my body and I really meant 'Neutral effect' on my body.
Sadly, I think the first effect would be the one to happen.
Just had sliced apple and pear with shaved parmasan cheese for lunch..Joining you in healthy eating,
God Bless

I love hummus, our local Turkish takeaway makes the best Ive had. Great with carrot sticks, on pizza (after it has been cooked), with bread. . . Endless uses:)
ReplyDeleteYou lunch looks yummy, although I have never had hummus, so I have no idea what that would taste like. It looks good though. :)
ReplyDeleteI am grateful that Phillip is back home, and that the Lord spared him from a fatal heart attack. My father had one of those a long time ago, and it was quite a scary thing to endure.
Yes, eating healthier is always a good thing, but not always easy.
