Simple Joys #5 ~ Roses

The Rose
"You love the roses - so do I.

I wish the sky would rain down roses,
As they rain from off the shaken bush.

Why will it not?

Then all the valley would be pink and white
And soft to tread on.

They would fall as light
As feathers, smelling sweet; and it would be
Like sleeping and like waking, all at once! "

George Elliot

Welcome to Simple Joys #5

Aren't these yellow roses beautiful?
They are my very special simple joy this week!
My thoughtful husband plucked them for me from our rambling old rosebush yesterday.
They were climbing high up into the Crepe Myrtle - way out of my reach.
Don't you just love how the deep pink hues tint the edges of their soft gold petals?
They look just right sitting on my old kitchen dresser where I can see their sweet faces.
Such a  lovely little vase of rosey sunshine to brighten up my day!

Thank You Lord, for the blessing of lovely old roses..
and thoughtful husbands.

Friends, I hope you have found some simple joy this week too.
I'd love to hear about it!
Have you got some joy today?
Do you want to say thanks and give God the glory for it?
If you'd like to share about something that made your heart smile
link up your Simple Joys post here and we'll rejoice together!..

God bless you... Trish

  1. Hi Trish,

The Roses are perfectly beautiful, flawless. The vase is so pretty, it must sparkle in the sunlight. As much as I love roses I have not been successful in growing them.

My simple joy this week would be the geraniums that are in my yard, and in flower pots, in red and white, and how they are thriving with dark green leaves and still blooming.

    God bless you friend,
    And Big hugs!

  3. Just beautiful Trish!!! Oh, I do think most people can't help but love roses. The colors, the feel of the petals, the aroma - oh the aroma! My roses are just now coming back after the Arizona heat so I am taking my delight in them.
    Blessings from Arizona,
    Dorothy

  4. Oh! Just saw my HUGE typo on the link - NUSS Kathy!! Ya! Sorry about that - hope it doesn't keep folks from reading - and they give me some keyboard grace. That's what happens when you rush through things and don't proofread!

Trish - what beautiful roses! There are so many varieties and this particular one is stunning. Such a loving husband bringing them in for you to bless your home - and your blog! My hubby did the same thing on my last Tuesday's tea post!

    Joy to you!

Kathy..aren't husbands the greatest!! I fixed up the typo - but you would've got plenty of 'keyboard grace' anyway.

  7. Oh you know how I love roses. I was able to buy a few climbing rose bushes the other week for half off and I have been enjoying them ever since! Oh so lovely! :o) I am now saving all the petals to use for other things once they have gone on. I want to go and see if I can't find some now that are the same colors as these ;o)

  9. Those roses are just glorious - I felt like I could smell them! We love the roses here too, and the autumn has been so mild they are still blooming a-plenty. Ravishing. I love 'em!

  10. Trish, these roses are absolutely beautiful, and picked from your dh makes them even more special. I am awed by the colors the petals look as though they have been kissed by the sun.
A very beautiful Simple Joy indeed.

  11. Dear Trish,

Ooh, how pretty! Roses are just simply gorgeous, and I've been learning lately how good they are as medicine, too (they're good at killing infections and healing wounds, as well as for sunburn when steeped in vinegar).

My joy this week has been a few days of warmer weather before the cold weather settles in for good.

    Love,

    Marqueta
