I'm so blessed that my youngest son loves to get creative in the kitchen;
last week he decided to raid my pantry while he was visiting me..
and whipped together a little something for us to have with our cuppa.
It was all apple-y and cinnamon-y and very very yummy!!
We had it hot with greek yoghurt and it was perfect for warming us on that chilly day.
He was not a well boy at the time ..he'd torn muscles in his neck and upper back which prevented him from sitting or laying down let alone working.
So what better way to help take his mind off his pain and discomfort than something delicious straight from the oven?!
He saw our physiotherapist the next day and gained some welcome relief and a set of exercises to do to loosen up the tautness in his back.
He's like his dad..carries all his stress in his neck and upper spine :-(
This time it was his un-natural daily posture of having his head always bent downward due to work needs,
combined with a bad shoulder strain he got while chopping the wood for his fire.
Put them together and- voila!- one young man with a badly frozen neck and back!
I was glad to have his company (and cooking!) but it was frustrating for me to see him in pain and not be able to help.
He couldn't bear the slightest pressure on his neck or shoulders which I was longing to massage for him,
but sometimes we mother's just have to leave things to the experts who know what to do for the best.
He's healing up and feeling much better this week, praise the Lord!
Makes me think of all the things in my life that I need an Expert to handle for me..
Oh, I often need to call on Him and trust that whatever it is that I'm struggling with,
whatever I must do but simply can't do on my own or in my own strength...HE CAN!!
God is my "physio" and "spirito" therapist.
He always knows how to stretch me back in shape and apply just the right amount of pressure on the exact points in my situation that need His reforming power!
And He does it purposefully and masterfully and so lovingly.
All I have to do is get up on His table and let Him take over!
How about you, my friends...
Do you find yourself needing a little help from an Expert, too?
If you do..I can highly recommend One ;-)

I do so often look to Him to lift me up. How could we live without our Faith?
ReplyDeleteAren't our sons so precious. For yours to make that yummy dessert while in so much pain is so lovely. We are truly blessed. I hope he recovers soon. xxoo
Hi Trish,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your son's neck and shoulder problems. Hope they heal soon.
He always likes to make desserts..I like his home-made Chai Tea the best.

The dessert looks delicious. Glad to hear your son was able to find some relief! Thanks for hosting :)
ReplyDeleteHi Trish,
ReplyDeleteOh, I do pray that your boy will heal really quickly. Physiotherapists can do wonders, I know! And aren't you blessed to have him able to cook for you!
I am having a wonderful week so far. I have been praying for something since late March and just received word ysterday that the Lord has answered and brought about that which I was praying for. So very thankful for His goodness and blessing. He Is Good!
Thank you for another wonderful post, my friend, and have a blessed day.
Hugs,
Sandi
Hi Trish,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for checking in at my blog to see how I was doing. I really appreciate it. I'm fine. It's was just a busy week and weekend so I didnt' really get a chance to blog.
I'm back today thought and have joined your party! Thanks for hosting.
Oh and I love your new banner...so pretty. :o)
Hi Trish, your blog looks so pretty today.
ReplyDeleteSo nice of your son! The dish does look good! I would be grouchy and not cooking if I had a pain/injury!! He is a doer!
If it wasn't for God's help, I would never get my daily work finished! Sometimes I think it is a miracle I do when I'm so pokey! I always feel that daily mass is the key, and that God appreciates it if we put him first in our day. love, andrea
Apples & cinnamon are always a treat - and when made with love by your young man - can't be better!
ReplyDeleteWhat an encouraging word you share about the "Expert" we go to to make crooked backs - I mean, paths - straight! He does both and then some. Hope your son is knowing His healing hand.
Always a delight - visiting you . . .
Joy!
Kathy
What a nice thought ~ of your son to make that delicious looking dessert, and while he was dealing with some pain. Glad to hear he found some relief.
ReplyDeleteWhere would we be without Him!
Blessings,
Anne♥
