"Mrs. Lynde says that sound doctrine in the man
and good housekeeping in the woman
make an ideal combination for a minister's family."
"Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about?
It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world.
It wouldn't be half so interesting if we know all about everything, would it?
There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?"
“Why must people kneel down to pray?
If I really wanted to pray I’ll tell you what I'd do.
I'd go out into a great big field all alone or in the deep, deep woods
and I'd look up into the sky - up, up, up - into that lovely blue sky
that looks as if there was no end to its blueness.
And then I'd just feel a prayer.”
“I believe the nicest and sweetest days
are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens,
but just those that bring simple little pleasures,
following one another softly,
like pearls slipping off a string.”
“I can just imagine myself sitting down at the head of the table and pouring out the tea," said Anne, shutting her eyes ecstatically.
"And asking Diana if she takes sugar!
I know she doesn't but of course I'll ask her just as if I didn't know.”
"You'd find it easier to be bad than good if you had red hair...
People who haven't red hair don't know what trouble is."
:-) :-) :-)
“Dear old world', she murmured,
'you are very lovely, and I am glad to be alive in you.”

Me too, dear Anne - me too!
I have so enjoyed Anne's company over the past few days.
We've had many enjoyable little chats together,
while wandering around my house and garden just doing the necessary chores
and taking in the simple everyday wonders of life.
Cheered me up no end - she did!
A real kindred spirit..as all true redheads are :-)

I love Anne of Green Gables. I think I will pull out the books and reread them over the summer. What better way than to spend some time on the porch swing with a cool drink getting lost in Anne's world :)

ReplyDeleteHi Trish,
ReplyDeletewonderful post...Anne was always a favourite of mine, too.
I related to her because I'm a red-head in all but hair colour.
Being surrounded by you,Mum and the rest of the family with various shades of red hair......I always felt an honorary 'red head'.
Love Barb xxxx
How cute to include your own red braid! Thanks for hosting!

What a lovely blog you have here! I love Anne of GG quotes!♥
ReplyDeleteI love Anne of Green Gables, your hat and Anne's are so similar, I was born wit red hair and as I got older, and began to grey, I decided to highlight , so I really look blonde, I miss my vibrant red hair! Thanks for sharing. I am continuing to pray for you.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sue
Hi Trish. I love your headers (on both blogs, the one you share with your sister also) and it was so nice to reminisce with anne of green gables...nice pics..that bird in the tree looks so neat! I figured Red Skelton would give some comic relief.. My husband suggested (after) to me that we have a camper's stove in the garage, and next time I can I should use that. So I guess sometimes there are cheap/free ways of getting around a small stove! love, andrea
ReplyDeleteOh, Trish! You just wrote MY plan for my Anne tea post. I missed it last week because we lost a week after the destructive derecho storm in our region - power was out for up to 11 days for some folks. Trying to get back in the groove, so my tea post this week will be Anne - but decidedly late. And, your quotes!!! Anne and I discuss these very things when I have her to tea! Kindred spirits, and bosom friends, indeed!
ReplyDeleteJoy to you!!
Kathy
