Hello my dear friends,
I'm happy to tell you that the past week has been very productive and stimulating in my little home :-)
Our venture to pare down and de-clutter is continuing and producing good results already.
The barer rooms are helping us focus in on what is really needed to be in those spaces now.
With the pictures off the walls and ornaments temporarily stored elsewhere, it gives us the chance to think clearly about what we want to see return and what we'd rather not have back in the room.
Funny thing..my hubby is the one who always thought he'd like a minimalist decor for a change, but after a week of 'minimal' he's starting to feel the look is too cold for him after all!
I think the fact that a friend visited on the weekend and asked if we were 'moving out' helped him see that you can pare down a little too much, and lose the cosy feeling that a family home needs.
So my silk flowers and some china will come back in to compliment the more manly beach items of surf photos and model ships.
It's all about compromising to reach a harmonious blend..
kind of like a good marriage really :-)
This coming week I will need to:
1. Continue the repainting in the dining area.
2. Decide where to move the large dresser and which china to put back in it.
3. Keep the water up to the garden - the nectrine tree is looking a bit sad because of the hot winds we've had this week.
4. Try to get more sleep. Hard for me as I don't sleep well in the heat of summer!
5. Be more faithful to Bible reading and daily prayer regimes.
6. Continue to be mindful of my words and the tone of speech I use, and to rely on God's grace to help me develop the virtues of a quiet and gentle spirit!
I pray your hearts and homes will be blessed this coming week, as you also seek the Lord's enabling in all your goals for loving the precious home and family in your care!
God bless you..Trish

Dear trish,
ReplyDeleteI think it is wonderful that you ahve ahd the chance to see the more 'sparten look' and your dear husband can see the benefit of the homely additions you have made. this is my passion as you would know too lol.
I will pray for your prayer time too as I know it makes a differnce in my life.
A quiet and gentle spirit are a common thread for us both this week, dear kindred spirit.
I pray for your week that all will be achieved in harmony and with grace
God Bless
Gae
You actually have your own nectarine tree?!? What a TREAT!!!
ReplyDelete'Tis funny to hear that you are sweltering away on hot summer nights as I gaze outside my window to a scene that looks quite like Narnia!
Decluttering also brings about detachment...both are such good things...I'm happy you and your hubby are undertaking this worthwhile activity together!
And please do share: What are you growing in your garden? ::smile::
Wishing you a blessed week as you focus on your quiet & prayer time. ~Alana~

ReplyDeleteSounds like you've taken on a big task. I suppose it's like spring cleaning, only on a more emotional scale. I hope you enjoy the results of your labours.
ReplyDeleteHi Trish, thanks for your visit on my blog. Hope the English translation was not toooo bad :-). I am reading your blog for a while now and love it! Katja
