Simple Pleasures ~ my wedding ring

It's just a plain band of gold wrapped around my finger.
Sometimes I forget it's even there.
Or take it for granted that it will always be there.
But when I stop to look at it - really look at it - I am humbled low.
How is it that he loves me this much?
Enough to give everything up for me?
And how is it that I forget.
Take him for granted.
Expect him to always be there..
Neglect to tell him often enough, how blessed I am that he chose me.

Sarah called her husband Abraham, "lord" and was commended.
If I am to be her true daughter, then I must also see my husband as lord to me.
My head..my covering..provider and protector.
My beloved..my friend..companion and guide.
"Husbands love your wives as Christ..
Wives respect your husbands." (Ephes 5:22-33)
By valuing and respecting my earthly husband I demonstrate my love for Christ my Bridegroom.
A simple little gold wedding ring...my heart's pleasure and sign of his heart's promise!

  3. So beautiful. If only husbands and wives treated each other as God commanded, what a beautiful world this would really be.

  12. Beautiful. I feel the same way about my husband. Unlike you, however, I don't think I could ever express it so well. This was lovely.

  13. How blessed you are to have such a wonderful relationship with your Husband. So often the husband or wife forgets just how we should love our spouse. In todays world everyone wants to be put first, and never thinks that in order to be put first in your spouses life you must put them first also.
What a great and simple post.

  15. Your words are true -- just the other day my husband and I were talking about how easy it is to take out our frustrations on each other, to take each other for granted. I always want to feel the heaviness of my ring, to remind me NOT to take him for granted, to be ever thankful that he is there.

  17. Oh Trish, this is absolutely beautiful. Too often I take my wedding ring and what it stand for for granted, but I think of those vows...for better or worse, richer or poorer...in sickness and in health...No matter what, I wouldn't trade my husband for anyone else.

Thank you for sharing this today!

    Blessings,
    Joan

  18. My wedding ring is simple, gold with no ornamentation, very slim, and worn so long that it is impossible to remove...yet it represents so much, especially now that my husband is no longer with me. I remember so well the day he slipped it on my finger with so much love.

  19. Hi Trish,
I love the way you express what is in your heart. Those of us who can't find the words read what you've written and say "That's how I feel too"
    Keep writing
    God Bless

  20. Ohhh thank you for sharing this. I never thought of my ring as a simple pleasure but it is! I would like to one day share my story behind my ring but I will wait a bit. It has a story for sure about being simple in the worlds eyes but beautiful in the Lord's. Thank you for reminding me of that. And YES we are to hold up our husbands as our head and lord and respect him very much. I really appreciate your beautiful posts, thank you.

    Blessings in Him<><

  21. Trish,

What a beautiful reminder for us Wives, to love our husbands as we love our Lord, and to be thankful for them and all they do for us. May we never take these things for granted.

  22. Thank you so much for those words. My band also doesn't come off anymore but sadly I don't always look at it like you described, especially today when my husband is so grumpy with hay fever and snapping at me.

  23. That was really lovely, and may we not take one another for granted. Thankyou for sharing.

  24. Just beautiful! I was thinking the other day about the rings on my husband's and my fingers and realized that no matter which hand we're holding, there is a ring being held by both of us. I love the symbol of the eternal ring. And I love the picture that our marriage paints of our relationship with our Savior! And how much he desires *us*! Such a wonderful post!
