Last of the afternoon sunlight came streaming through the window,
dancing in the steam of potatoes bubbling on the stove.
It's fleeting-sweeping trail lit up the gold of mandarin orbs
silently nestled in a waiting galaxy of tin and apple cheeks.
I turned from my whirring-stirring and suddenly saw it..

come into my kitchen to sing me a Vespers song!

Indeed a beautiful simple pleasure! :)
ReplyDeleteI love when the sun dances in our home. It does bring so much joy.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful time of day as the sun slanted into your kitchen and onto your bowl of mandarins. Thanks for visiting me at Redo 101, I look forward to seeing you again soon :)

Hi Trish,
ReplyDeleteI love the first-hand sunlight that comes in my bedroom window, and I especially love the second-hand (reflected off the windows of the block of units next door) sunlight that comes into my kitchen in the morning. It is a special gift because I live in a semi-detached house with no east facing windows.
I love the sunlight on your bowl of fruit and I'm sure sunlight mixing with the potato steam would improve the taste of the potatoes.
God Bless

Isn't it wonderful when the ordinary becomes magical in the light of the sun. Very pretty photos.
ReplyDeleteOh Trish....we have been without the radiance of the sun for so long here in the mountains. Rain is a blessing...but nothing can compare with the warmth of a summer sun.
ReplyDeleteA true pleasure.

ReplyDeleteI like how the sunlight is creeping in every so quietly and softly into your kitchen. It truly makes a pleasant atmosphere. I can almost smell the potatoes cooking upon the stove. :)
