A busy weekend

The weekend was perfect for working in the garden, so the Woodman got stuck into barrowing a load of topsoil and mulch around our fledgling beds.

It is still very hot and the ground is quite dry in spite of daily watering.

Even so..we are enjoying ourselves and learning lots more about plant needs and how to care for a garden.

Our nectrine is now providing delicious fruit and shade in the back corner.

And the petunias are spreading nicely and filling up some gaps between shrubs and trees.

I love the bright cheeriness of petunias :-)

I hope they encourage this new mini white rose to settle in and spread out beside them.
What's a cottage garden without some roses and petunias to help brighten your day? lol!

We found this new type of dahlia at Bunnings on Saturday.
It's really pretty and we hope it grows well in the middle of the lawn because we love the colour of it against the dark blue/grey of the shed!

We not only the planted all these out, but also laid a slate path under the metal arch and a curved brick path  behind the rockery and fruit trees.

So all in all..it was a nice productive weekend!

  3. So nice to see your garden and all the lovely flowers. I'm sitting in PA with frigid temps and covered with snow. I can't wait till it warms up here.

  6. Hi Trish,
No rain up in Orange, we had regular falls in Sydney over the last 2 weeks, just enough to keep everything damp.
Your garden is looking good I like the colour of that new dahlia hope it goes well and I'm glad your nectrine is fruiting, we have a fruit tree that has grown in our backyard not sure what it is yet as no fruit or flowers.
    The rockery is looking great.
    all the best Merle....

  7. Your garden seems to be coming along nicely. The last flower, the dahlia, is quite charming. I don't think I've seen one like it before.

    Blessings! :)
