Around home this week..

Hello friends, I thought I'd catch you up with a few things that have been happening around home this past week.

My wonderful hubby finished laying the decking outside our backdoor - and boy! have we been enjoying that new space!!
It is so nice to be able to sit out there in the cooler evening breezes..especially for my Beloved who works so hard during the day and needs a peaceful place to unwind.

The heatwave has passed and we've had some rain, so that means the garden has gone into "overdrive" and we now have a tomato-jungle in the vegie patch :-)

There's still a lot of work for us to do outdoors..a winding brick path to be finished and garden beds to be enlarged as well as building hubby's pizza oven..which he laid the foundations for last Saturday -yeah!lol!

Oh - I have to tell you about this little puppy without a collar who I found under the bushes in our side garden on Friday!
Doesn't he look sweet? Like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth, right?
No harm in taking him inside and putting him in the sunroom while I try to find his owners, right?
After all he's just a baby - couldn't even walk up my front steps without tripping over himself, so I'll just let him in and keep my eye on him - poooorrrr little thing!
Humph!!!

Well he wasn't exactly alone - HIS TWIN BROTHER was with him and they turned out to be quite an energetic handful to look after while I waited for hubby to come home and rescue - ME!!!

I had stupidly kindly put them in my sunroom so they would be safe but they started to entertain themselves by ripping the padding out from under the sofa - eek!!!
I soon put them in the backyard until hubby came home and took them up the street to try to find their home but nobody claimed them.
Thankfully our neighbours and their 2 lively young children took pity on them and said they were happy to look for their owners for us.. and so peace and calm returned to our little abode once again.
Hope they are burning all that puppy energy off in their own backyard by now, lol!

Well, I'm pleased to report that our "new best friend" is settling in nicely with us and looking much stronger and brighter this week.
He's even started to 'chatter' back to me and go to the bowl to eat his food when I stand near the cage and crunch on an apple etc.
He's VERY observant and seems like he'll be easy to teach...maybe he will learn to talk before long :-)
He's certainly provided me with lots of fun and chirpy company this week..and plenty of tiny fluffy feathers to sweep up too!lol!

Hope you are all having a good and blessed week too, my friends
...Trish xx

  1. Trish Your deck is so smart. I think you need a medal for taking in those lively two. The caged pets are much more manageable.:)

  2. Oh Trish has word got around the locals that you are running an animal shelter, to find two puppies makes me think they may have been abandoned, the little bird seems to have setled in well and I do like your deck its come up a treat.

  6. I'd be sitting in the chair eating a fresh tomato enjoying the surroundings. :-) The parrot does look like he's perked up a bit.
LOL sounds like the pups enjoyed their stay!

  7. Ahhh...puppies!! I'm glad you were able to find someone to care for them. Hopefully, their owners can be found soon. And your sweet bird looks quite at home and still very handsome. :o) I'm sure he's becoming very much your baby.

Your deck looks great! How I wish I could visit and sit out there with you and enjoy a cup of tea. Enjoy your time relaxing out there.

  14. Sounds like you had a little bit of a "wild time" with those cute little puppy dogs. I have a few indoor only cats, who get into mischief on various occasions too, and it can drive me crazy sometimes, though I couldn't live without them. :)

Your new backyard deck looks great! I'm glad that you and your hubby have been able to relax outside and enjoy your warm days. It's still winter here in the states, ugh! :(

    Blessings!

Those puppies were darling (I would have had a hard time to let them go!)
Thank you for visiting Trish and enjoy the sunny weather (so dreary here, sigh)
