Love and 'fine bone' marriage

A few days ago, hubby and I celebrated 36 years of wedded bliss.
Which - amazingly to us - means that we have been together for almost 41 years now!
That's a pretty loooong time by today's standards of committment and marriage :-)
So has it all been a bed of roses for us, you may ask? Of course not.
But whatever "thorny" issues we've had to deal with over the years have been handled with a whole lot of prayer and a stubborn will to make our marriage work - and work well!

You don't get to 36 years without some times of stress and tension...every marriage must have these experiences if they are to last and become strong.
The times when you simply must "pull together" helps to cement the bond that Love began and continues to hold firm.
Marriage is a very precious thing which must be protected and nurtured carefully throughout the years, and never taken for granted.
It is a sacrament..a blessing..a vocation..a spiritual bond as well as physical..and it was created by God to be a glorious source of comfort, companionship and co-creation.
For those of us who are called to be 'Husband and Wife' it is a great blessing to find a spouse who truly loves and cares for us.. one who shares in all our joys and trials and is always beside us to support, encourage and (in the case of the husband) lead with strength and kindness.
I can honestly say.. I have such a godly husband and count myself extremely blessed beyond words to be given such a wonderful life-companion and soul-mate.
He is my heart's treasure and delight!
I thank the Lord for enfolding our marriage with the prayer-shawl of His grace and I thank my beloved Bridegroom for 36 years of love, laughter and giddy joy!!

And for faithfully bringing me a nice hot cup of tea in bed most mornings before breakfast!
(see..I told you I got good one lol!)

  6. Oh Trish...what a beautiful testimony of Our Lord's love for His Children!

To make a commitment to each other, takes hard work and stubbornness. I know that in my own life, it has taken a surrendering I never knew I could do.

But I would not have it any other way...May Our Lord continue to bless you and your hubby my sweet Friend, may His Grace shine upon you daily!

  16. Happy anniversary my dearest friend.. I just realized I was 10 when you and your dear woodman were married.. that's kind of scary. You are the best friends and the nicest couple we know and I wish you both every happiness always.
    We love you both dearly..
I usually get my DH the cuppa in the morning because I tend to wake up first, but when I occasionally sleep in the favour is returned..
    sending you all our love.

  17. Congratulations !!!! It is so good to see such long marriages in times of so many devorces. I think the same way. I am very blessed too, to have found such a wonderful husband. We have been married for more than 25 years now. Something not a lot of our generation can say I'm afraid. We have had hard times too, but that has only brought us closer together.
I have just been operated on and have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease and I must say my husband has been there for me whole the way. Supporting me, doing things for me. I am so grateful !!
I hope you and your husband will continue to have a wonderful marriage for many years to come !!!
    Hugs from The Netherlands.
